Quarantine got you missing the days of road tripping? Well don’t worry, we have compiled a list of our favorite road trip movies for you to binge-watch to get your fill! Visit us on Instagram and share with us your favorite Roadtrip movies! And don’t worry about trying to find out where to watch them, we figured that out for you too!

National Lampoon’s Vacation:

Of course, this is on our list and obviously it’s first! Not only is this movie timeless, but is relatable to any family that has ever taken a road trip together. I remember A few vacations driving 1,000 miles to visit Disneyland… stuck in the car with my parents, two brothers and little sister. 15 hours. I think most of those memories I have blocked out, but luckily I can hit ‘play’ on this movie and have all those memories screaming back… but in a good way 🙂

Identity Thief:

If you haven’t seen this movie it’s pretty great. Melissa McCarthy plays her fun crazy self and Jason Bateman always does a good job of being the down to earth kind of guy. The polar opposites make for a fun ride (no pun intended). On a side note, I know Identity theft is a big deal… but I will have to admit, I’ve always wished a frugal and fiscally responsible adult would steal my identity and rack up a good credit score!

Little Miss Sunshine:

One of those movies that gets better every time you watch it. All about growth through a journey with a “dysfunctional” family that share a deep love for each other, even if they don’t show it all the time… So basically pretty relatable to anyone. And I don’t know why, but a road trip that involves an amazing yellow VW van seems like, no matter what, things are going to be ok!

The Fundamentals of Caring:

First, I must say, I do enjoy me some Paul Rudd! Whether he is a guy looking for a best friend (I Love You Man) or running around with a bunch of ants (yep, you guessed it, Antman), there is something about Paul Rudd that I find charming. This movie takes us on a journey of self-discovery as well as a point where we see the largest cow and the deepest pit. This movie delivers win after win!

Are We There Yet?

I remember when this movie first came out… Big bad Ice Cube was all of a sudden a suburban Mr. Nice Guy…. and I loved it! He has that edgy ultra-tough guy look and swagger that makes it all the better when a few kids breakthrough that and show the softer side. I would be lying if I didn’t say that the perfect road trip would be in a 1972 Cadillac el Dorado Convertable with Ice Cube… Fun guy that can handle anything… and bonus, our dinks would always be nice and cold.

Due Date:

Iron Man and Zach Galifianakis with a perm… I didn’t have to even see the movie to know it was going to be great (on a side note: I for sure had to google Zach’s last name). We have all spent time with people that just slightly rubbed us the wrong way… now imagine taking a road trip with them! This movie captures all of that perfectly! It even shows a new way to appreciate those somewhat annoying friends or family. Almost makes you rethink taking that road trip they’ve been wanting to take with you… almost.

The Muppets Movie:

This might of been the first time a lot of use learned about road trips. Traveling across the country with an entourage of muppets would be a dream come true. Talk about setting up unrealistic expectations. My first road trip had 0 muppets, 0 frogs playing banjo, and wasn’t driven by a comedic bear… so it was a slight let down. Although, the guy hunting me for my frog legs was the same.

And I can’t stress this enough, Kermit signing rainbow connection is one of the best movie openings of all time. Don’t try to argue, I am pretty firm on this!

(I might end this blog with a special musical number… I guess we will have to see)

Of course, there are a ton of other great road trip movies that we don’t have on the list…Let us know your favorite movies below in our comments, maybe we will ass them to road trip movies v2!

Now, as promised… One of my favorite movies intros of all time!
